ASAIHL WILL INTRODUCE INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION PROGRAM NAMED AS

The Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning, better known as ASAIHL, held a bi-annual Board of Trustees and International Conference of 2018 on 13-15 December 2018. Neresuan University was elected and honored to host the conference which was held at the university's campus in Phitsanulok, Thailand. The Theme of this conference is 'Better Life Expectancy through Education, Research, and Innovation'

 

The delegation of Universiti Putra Malaysia is headed by YBhg. Prof. Datin Paduka Dato 'Aini Ideris, the Vice-Chancellor, who is also a member of the ASAIHL Board of Trustees appointed from 2017. Prior to this, UPM Vice-Chancellor held the presidency term for a period of two (2) years from 2015-2016. Also present were Prof. Dato' Dr.-Ing Renuganth Varatharajoo, and Mr. Mohd Nazri bin Md Yasin, Head of Administration Division, UPM Vice-Chancellor Office.

The conference was officiated by Dr. Sophon Napathorn, M.D., Vice Minister of Education, Thailand. Also present was the Honorary Prof. Dr. Kanchana Ngourungsi, President of Naresuan University, Professor Suchatvee Suwansawat, ScD Chairman of ASAIHL, Thailand and President of King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ninnat Olanvoravuth, Secretary General of ASAIHL. 

 

Dr. Jean Mac RODA, CIRAD and UPM team

 At the conference, Dr. Jean Marc RODA from CIRAD presented the Sustainable Agricultural Landscapes in South East Asia (SALSA), the UPM joint initiatives, together with Center for International Cooperation in Agronomic Research for Development (CIRAD), University of Montpellier, France, and ASAIHL. Prof. Dato ' Dr.-Ing. Ir. Renuganth presented the Malaysia Country report focusing on the preparation of Malaysian universities to meet the challenge of the industrial revolution 4.0.At this conference, the concept of the ASAIHL Mundus program was presented by the representative of Montpellier University, Prof. Dr. Roger Frutos. The proposed programme would further enhance European and Asian cooperation in the education sector for the benefit of future generations. UPM is also involved in identifying, development and the implementation of the ASAIHL Mundus program among selected universities, and also  to lead the initial development of the program. UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dato 'Aini Ideris, is positive for this latest development and believes the involvement of UPM is able to realize the development of the ASAIHL Mundus program, and places Malaysia in the lead for the stronger university cooperation between Asian and Europe. Graduates to be produced through this program will have more international learning experience, optimizing the Asian and European university expertise in the selected fields.
