DEFINATION OF WORK ETHICS
Work Ethics is the behavioural and conduct principles and guidance that are based on good universal values adhered by every staff of Universiti Putra Malaysia.
OBJECTIVE OF WORK ETHICS
To instill positive attitude in discharging given tasks/duties that will improve the quality of the service.
To improve self-discipline towards producing excellent servies that meet the needs of the clients as well as the organization.
To provide continuous positive contributions to the nation.
PRINCIPLE OF WORK ETHICS
The Universiti Putra Malaysia Work Ethics should be implemented and practiced based on the following principles:
PRINCIPLES OFWORK ETHCIS
Having the Right Intention
It is important to perform our duty with the right intentionas required by religion, concurrent with the following aspiration:-
(a) To fulfil the need of the National Educational Philosophy;
(b) To honestly and sincerely fulfil our responsibilities toward the religion and the nation;
(c) To provide quality contribution;
(d) To evaluate our purpose for kindness
(e) To seek ‘halal’ income for self and family sustenance
Showing Good Conduct
It is the responsibility of every staff of UPM to perform their duties well to ensure quality that would enhance the image of the organization. Hence, each UPM staff must:-
(a) Show exemplary appearance, good verbal and nonverbal conduct at all times;
(b) Continually produce quality work, besides meeting the clients’ satisfaction; and
(c) Be appreciative of the responsible towards the organization.
Promoting Goodness in Society
Every UPM staff must show exemplary conduct and promote goodness in society. Hence, all UPM staff must:-
(a) Be dynamic, progressive, competitive and able to encourage others to do good;
(b) Ensure work practices and output that reflect excellence and of the highest quality that will inspire others;
(c) Strive to be the best employee;
(d) Have a firm and clear understanding of their professions.
Executive Work as Promised
We must always work towards delivering our promises. Hence, all UPM staff should:-
(a) Always be seen or perceived as trustworthy in impressions, speech and conduct;
(b) Not deviate from their words;
(c) Not deviate from their words;
(d) Always honour the client’s charters.
Exhibiting Good Manners
Activities that are well governed, honourable and bound by etiquette are important in producing UPM staff of excellent quality. To achieve this, all UPM staff must:
(a) Preserve good behavior as guided by religion;
(b) Always abide by rules and regulations, and,
(c) Always adhere to appropriate and correct procedures and approaches.
Upholding the Spirit of Loyalty. Togetherness Consensus, and Unity
Teamwork is needed to create a harmonious, friendly working atmosphere that would foster close working relation, producing staff who are loyal, grateful and having a sense of responsibility towards the product of the organisation’s effort. Hence, every UPM staff must:-
(a) Unite, for ‘united we stand, divided we fall’;
(b) Work as a team and deliberate in making important decisions;
(c) Discuss and consult proper authorities when dealing with difficult matters;
(d) Maintain the spirit of solidarity and loyalty.
